Hell's Seal, also known as Hell's Mark, Gedo Seal, or Gedo Mark, was a powerful forbidden Jutsu created by Orochimaru during the Third Great Shinobi World War.  It had two major abilities, one of which he used to forcably control enemy soldiers to help them out, and the other was to effectively wipe out enemy Kekkei Genkai abilities or Kekkei Tota abilities, weather they be elemental based or Dojutsu.  When the truths about how immoral that the technique was, in both it's original creation and continued usage, reached light, the third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, quickly made it an S Class Forbidden Technique, meaning that it was not to be used even in the most dire of circumstances so long as Konohagakure stood as a vilalge with a Hokage to personally enforce it.   He himself also created the Hell's Seal:  Release, to save the lives of any innocent people infected wtih the Jutsu, but also made it forbidden as well, and hide the scrolls of how to perform all three somehwere where nobody would ever find them. 

History

During the outbreak of the Third Great Shinobi World War, due to how extreme the cercimstances were and how intense the bloodshed was, the 3rd Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, , along with agreements from not only the 4th Hokage, Minato Namikaze, and the Konohagakure elders, assigned Orochimaru to creating a new Jutsu to aid them in the war; he was assigned to this task mainly due to how experienced he was in creating powerful Jutsu, although they still had no idea what his methods for doing so actually were, at least fully.  He experimented in secret, and within two weeks of time, he created the Hell's Seal, which had devastating results, and ultimately allowed Konohagakure to win the war in the end, albeit still suffering major casualties.  Shortly after the war ended, when the truths of Orochimaru's experiments came to light, and he was forced to flee the village, Hiruzen Sarutobi created the Hell's Seal:  Release to potentially save the lives of anyone infected with the Jutsu.  After that, along weith many other dangerous and powerful Jutsu that Orochimaru created, Hiruzen made the HEll's Seal techniques forbidden, and hide the scrolls somehwere whre nobody would ever find them.

• This technique is based off of the Gedo Mark from the video game Naruto:  Ultimate Ninja 2, with the author's own added enhancements to it.
